Grasshoppers NEW Sports and Social facilities
Grasshoppers new Sports and Social facilities

Grasshoppers RFC will soon be benefiting from their new sports facility which is due to open late August. The new clubhouse and grounds will be suitable for training, big match days, school sports, corporate functions and family celebrations.

The centre features 3 rugby pitches and a MUGA (Multi use games Area) as well as the modern clubhouse facilities. The largest of these is the professional-quality rugby pitch with a state-of-the-art 3G artificial surface and floodlights for after-dark events. Alongside this are the two full-size grass pitches which are also fully floodlit. Finally the MUGA which is suitable for many sports but will be marked out with 3 netball courts. The clubhouse will feature a Members Bar and the larger Conquest Bar.

The centre has been built for Grasshoppers RFC as part of Hounslow Schools Programme which involved Grasshoppers being relocated to their new site. It is Grasshoppers intention to enable the local community to benefit from the facilities and will be available for parties, casual training and local groups to use. However, it is also expected to be used by semi-professional sports teams to train and even hold matches.

It is hoped that all commercial parts of the site will be fully operational when it opens at the end of August. This will include a breakfast, a lunch and an evening 'lite bites' menu from the Kitchen as well as Sunday Lunchtime Menu.

Grasshoppers will be inviting local residents to view the facilities and become members and additionally we are talking to a number of groups, each of whom fits our required profile as being complementary to existing club activities and is likely to enhance our community commitment.

Most importantly it is our intention to grow the participation of existing users of the facility and in particular to boost rugby playing at all levels and age groups. Rugby Membership is open to all athletes, Seniors, Veterans, Youth or Mini rugby, whether they are aspiring to be great players or just want to train to the best of their ability. Most importantly it is our intention to grow the participation of existing users of the facility and in particular to boost rugby playing at all levels and all age groups.

The first home game at the new ground will be on Saturday 1st September with a 1st VX fixture against local rivals London Welsh. All ex-players are invited to come down and watch the game in our new surroundings. This will be followed by Mini and Youth Opening Day on Sunday 2ndSeptember when all the youngest members of the club will be able to try out the new 3G pitch.

More information about training, the new season and volunteering will be posted in the next few weeks as the opening day approaches.
