New Clubhouse - 100 days to go

The new clubhouse and changing room facility is now really taking shape and is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2018. As you can see from the recently taken pictures of the clubhouse and pitches, there is still plenty of work to do, but we hope you agree that it looks as if it will be an excellent home for our members and most importantly players, for many years to come.

It has been 3 years since Grasshoppers were asked by Hounslow if we would consider being relocated. It took 18 months of consultation, negotiation and pre-planning with the Council and Pick Everard (the architect) before the planning application was ready to be submitted. It took a further two months before planning was finally approved and the project finally put out to tender for construction.

Dawnus Construction were awarded the contract and started on site in August 2017. The grass pitches were priority with Winter fast approaching and were finally seeded in October last year. Once this was done, work began on the clubhouse structure. Most recent activity has seen the internal walls going up and the first of the mechanical and electrical services being installed. Key activities for the next month include the completion of the external cladding and the installation of the stadium style seating.

The improved facilities will benefit all club members, from under 7’s to veteran level. The more comfortable changing provisions, function room and members bar within the new clubhouse will provide a better environment for all.

The Exec Committee have no doubt that this new facility will improve the clubs sustainability for the future and will help not only to retain existing players, but also to inspire new ones.

Gary Cunningham, Grasshoppers RFC Chairman "Our new facilities will not only benefit the club but also the community by providing a safe venue for many sports and social activities”.
