Dear Member
Your membership of Grasshoppers is greatly appreciated has probably never been more important than it is now. We have enjoyed five years at our Syon Lane facility during which time we have learnt a tremendous amount about running such a prestigious club and grounds, central to which is the contribution members, volunteers guests and friends make to its success. I hope this not only continues but develops and thrives.
We are very fortunate to have elected an excellent Leadership Team (aka Executive Commit-tee,) and all of those volunteers (Pete Baveystock, Nick Dance, Al Lydon, James Kent, Emillie Wardle, Jeremy Easton) are dedicated to the success of Grasshoppers, but I recognise that the Team needs to expand with some additional positions including Directors of Communications and Internal Affairs plus one or two Ordinary Directors. If you are interested in joining our Leadership Team, please let me know.
We are also thrilled by the success of all our sporting teams this last year, not least our 1st XV for their promotion to Regional 2 Thames (National Level 6), an achievement which shouldn’t be underestimated and as a result of which has some great implications and new challenges for the Club; better standard of rugby, bigger crowds, opposition support in greater numbers, to name a few.
Our biggest challenge however is financial, and the Leadership Team will be working hard to ensure we establish stronger income streams and reduced costs so that we generate a funding surplus we can re-invest in our facilities, our clubhouse and especially in our sport.
The new and re-elected Leadership Team will be meeting in early June to discuss and plan for the forthcoming season. Meanwhile, enjoy the weather and the summer; it won’t be long before we’re back in full training mode for next season!
Best wishes for next season
Rob Jones
