Student Rugby session with surprise guest coach

15th October 2015

Issued on behalf of England Rugby 2015 and Rugby Football Union (RFU).

As the Festival of Rugby 2015 continues there is a wide rang e of Rugby themed events taking place up and down the country as children and adults are inspired to take up the Game and join in the festival atmosphere.

By October 31st, Festival of Rugby 2015 is set to see over one million participants take part in Rugby-themed events across the country. Over 900 have already taken place and this week the total is set to reach 1,000 events register on the Festival of Rugby website.

This Friday, October 16th we will be celebrating reaching this landmark with a Festival of Rugby event at Grasshoppers Rugby Club. A match under floodlights between a Grasshoppers Development Team and St Mary's University 3rd XV will be the centrepiece. What makes it such a celebration is that, within only six weeks, St Mary's have gone from seven members struggling to put forward a team to 70 attending training sessions and three teams, showing how people have been inspired to take up the Game during rugby's biggest year.

As a reward for the commitment shown by St Mary's and to mark reaching 1,000 Festival or Rugby events, the students will be surprised with a very special guest coach for the evening.

Date: Friday 16th October
Location: Grasshoppers Rugby Club
Event Start: 6.30pm
Kick Off: 7.45pm

Also, on Friday evening, Grasshoppers Vets will be taking on Teddington Fat Stags in an annual Vets game. Kick off at 7.30pm.
