Match Report: Enfield Ignations v Grasshoppers

Seniors: First XV: 8th September 2018

Enfield Ignations 41 5 Grasshoppers
Grasshoppers travelled to North London to play their first game of 2018/19 in London NW2 and found the going tough playing up a slope in the first half. Gs found it difficult to gain any sustained pressure, with only making fleeting appearances in the oppositions twenty-two throughout the first half. Gs dug in well at times but had no answer for the pressure exerted by Enfields forwards. Therefore, Gs saw the score board tick over and went in at half time 29-0 down thanks to four tries, three conversions and a penalty. Gs started the second half much better and found themselves camped on the home sides line for much of it. This saw them score their first try, albeit unconverted, of the game through, replacement flanker, Jasper Rose to make it 29-5. With the slope Gs second half performance was much better as their forwards gained some parity in the game but it was the home side that put the game to bed with two further tries and a conversion to make the final score 41-5 and leaving Gs to reflect on their first half performance.
