“Brown Hat-Trick Paves Way for Bonus Point Win”

Seniors: First XV: 21st March 2026

Grasshoppers 42 21 Windsor

Grasshoppers welcomed Windsor to "The Lane” hoping to reverse the loss back in November with both sides fielding stronger teams than then hoping to avoid the relegation play-off places. In the end it was a stormer of a game with nine tries.

So, the visitors kicked off from the railway end, and it was nip and tuck but the deadlock was broken 15 minutes when, full-back, Chris Brown went in for a try following some excellent work from centre, George Cubitt and with the conversion from Charlie Lecuyer G’s saw themselves 7-0 up. G’s continued started to control the game as their forwards got on top which led to Chris Brown got his second try which was converted by Charlie Lecuyer. The score continued through hooker, Jack Walkenden who came up with the ball from a 5 metre line out to make it 21-0.

G’s looked good but a few simple errors put them on the back foot as just before half time them allowed the visitors to go in under the posts for a converted try to make the score look a less safe 21-14.

G’s looked nervy at the strat of the second half as another error allowed the visitors to narrow the gap to 7 points with a second converted try. However, bring on Chris Brown for his hat-trick try which Charlie Lecuyer converted to make the score 28-14 and give G’s their fourth try bonus point.

G’s forwards continued their dominance and were rewarded with a well taken try from scrum-half, Finn Skinner, which when converted by Charlie Lecuyer put G’s 35-14 but the visitors rallied and narrowed the gap again to 35-21 with a well taken converted try. They continued to press and got a third converted try to narrow the gap to 35-21 and continued to look to get something out of the game but the backs found the gaps and saw centre, Blaise Salle go over for G’s 6th try and Charlie Lecuyer’s 6th Conversion to make the final score 42-21.

Next week G’s are away to Harpenden 3pm kick off.
