Much Deserved Win For Hoppers

It was the 2nds who kicked off at 12.30 against Roslyn Park B’s who were sitting above G’s in the merit table. G’s fielded a very strong squad which included nine of this season’s Clots and three from last season, backed up with some excellent experienced players. G’s started strongly with tries from Dexter & Lewis with Charlie adding a conversion to make it 12-0.
The visitors then hit back with a try to make it 12-5. The game then seesawed back and forth with G’s scoring through Harry, converted by Charlie Lecurer. Followed by a try for the visitors and second by Harry which was converted by Charlie and then just before half time, the visitors scored to make it 26-15.
The second half saw G’s much more disciplined in shape and structure with half backs, Finn Skinner and Charlie Lecurer pulling the strings. G’s were ruthless and took control of the game scoring tries through, Aiden, Shane, Alfie and Harry x 2 with Charlie converting all of them allowing them a four try bonus point.
All tries were scored by this year’s and last year’s Colts highlighting the importance of our Junior rugby section for the future of the Club with a special mention to Corey making his senior debut in this match.
G’s have now moved above Rosslyn Park B’s into 4th place with only two matches remaining. Next week G’s are away to Old Steetonians aiming to clinch a place in the play-offs
